First Steps’ Trailer Clears 202M Views, Best for Marvel Non-Sequel

Marvel has a summer box office hit on their hands with the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps which saw its trailer in its first 24 hours clear 202M views across all platforms after dropping on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

That’s the third best first day’s traffic for a Marvel Studios movie’s first trailer after Deadpool & Wolverine (365M) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (355M). That said, it’s the best Marvel Studios has ever seen in traffic for a non-sequel movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine ranks as the most watched trailer of all-time and opened to $211.4M stateside last year.

I’m told the figure for Fantastic Four: First Steps includes TikTok, which is a platform some studios don’t include in their social media analytics comps as it puffs up views. That said, YouTube is the lifeblood to determining if a movie is poised to skyrocket down the road in its opening weekend. That said, Fantastic Four: First Steps is in great standing on YouTube as the No. 1 trending video. The trailer also scored the most live viewers ever on a Marvel YouTube livestream. The teaser also yielded several top ten organic trends on X including the keywords “Fantastic Four,” “Galactus”, all talent names in the movie, the four core characters in the pic, and Marvel Studios.

Social volume for Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer hit close to a half million which is higher than all recent Marvel titles excluding Deadpool & Wolverine which launched during the Super Bowl.

The Fantastic Four franchise was previously a part of the 20th Century Fox Marvel canon. When the Disney-Fox merger went through, Disney’s Marvel Studios obtained access to the film rights of the superhero astronauts. Three Fantastic Four movies for Fox grossed over $803M at the global box office.
