Barron Trump RNC Delegate Decline :Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, has declined the opportunity to serve as a delegate at the Republican National Convention (RNC), according to confirmation from his mother’s office.
Initially announced by the Florida Republican Party, Barron, 18, was slated to participate in selecting his father as the party’s presidential nominee. Despite Donald Trump expressing support for his son’s involvement, Melania Trump’s office has since indicated otherwise.
“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” a spokesperson for Melania Trump stated, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The extent of Barron’s involvement in the convention remains uncertain, including whether he will attend the event scheduled for July 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In contrast, other members of the Trump family, such as Donald Jr., Eric, and Tiffany, are confirmed as delegates for the state of Florida, where the family now resides.
Notably absent from the list of participants are Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, who have not confirmed their involvement. Melania Trump, who has been present at political gatherings hosted at Mar-a-Lago but has largely abstained from accompanying her husband on the campaign trail or to his ongoing trial in New York, also remains unconfirmed.
Throughout Donald Trump’s presidency, Melania fiercely guarded Barron’s privacy, keeping him out of the public eye as much as possible. Criticism and commentary on Barron’s appearance or behavior were met with staunch rebuttals from Melania’s office and other former first children, such as Chelsea Clinton.
Although Barron’s name appeared on Florida’s list of delegates, his decision not to participate marks his first notable step into the political realm. Donald Trump expressed delight at the prospect of Barron’s involvement, describing him as “very cute” in an interview with Telemundo 51.
Despite mistakenly stating Barron’s age as 17, Donald Trump indicated his support, mentioning Barron’s interest in politics. According to reports, Barron is considering attending New York University (NYU) for college.
Donald Trump, currently embroiled in his first of four criminal trials, has been granted permission by the judge to attend Barron’s high school graduation, scheduled for next Friday.
