On her latest Cowboy Carter tour, Beyoncé performs the song “16 Carriages” while taking a spin in a little red convertible over the heads of her audiences. But yesterday in Houston, the flying car malfunctioned, slanted to one side and left the singer stuck above the crowd and briefly pausing the show as she sat in the scarily tilting prop.
“Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” the singer said calmly into her mic as the music came to a halt and the cables holding the car slowly dropped the prop and the singer to the stage.
Videos of the incident immediately began popping up on social media.
Audience noises at the NRG Stadium in Houston went from frightened gasps to applause as the descent was completed.
“If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me,” Beyoncé said to her hometown crowd once safely back on the stage.
Beyoncé later posted photos of the concert, including the car incident, on her Instagram page, with the accompanying message, “I love you Houston.”
