For years after Matt and graphic designer Rachel Kirknell left the 2021 season together (and then split up temporarily and eventually reunited), they have faced many farewell rumors.
“I think everyone needs to take a break from social media,” says the former single E! News at the Baskin-Robbins event on July 18th. “Our life lives very much in front of our mobile phones, so everyone calls 24/7, and people think that’s the end of the world.”
In fact, Matt said the marriage remains the final game of the pair.
“I think the good thing about our relationship is that we go at our own pace,” First Impressions: Screen-off conversations with Bachelors of Race, Family and Forgiveness The author told E! News for May 2022. “And you’ve seen it with other couples. They force engagement and they’re not together anymore. So what we got is the work recipe and I think we’ll get there.”
However, less than three years later, Matt announced that he and Rachel had split.
“Rachel and I will give us the power to repair our broken heart,” the reality star wrote on Instagram on January 16, 2025 along with a photo of the singles’ throwback. “Give us peace on this decision to end a relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Kindly and love our friends and family, and remind us that our joy comes from you.”
