EXCLUSIVE: Joshua Coates’ film Divine Direction has wrapped filming in Philadelphia, PA.
The movie tells the story of a father who is also a Pastor and grapples with his faith as his son battles a rare form of kidney cancer. Divine Direction is based on the heartfelt true-life story of Charles Moorer and based on his two books Standing on the World of Adoni and Giving Up Is Not an Option.
Dorian Gregory stars in the dual lead roles of Charles Moorer and his twin brother, Quinton Moorer. With over 70 film and television credits to his name, Gregory is best known for his portrayal of Darryl Morris on the hit TV series Charmed, which aired from 1998 to 2005. The cast also includes Tamala Jones (Blue Streak, Next Friday) as Cora Moorer, Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, The Expendables) as Dr. Patrick Batra, and Geoffrey Owens (The Cosby Show, Poppa’s House) as Charles Moorer Sr. Co-Starring, Torrei Hart (But Deliver Us From Evil, Hollywould) as Crystal Moorer, Judae’a (Showtime’s The Chi, Madonna Non Grata) as Chelsea Moorer, and Golden Globe and Grammy winning gospel singer Regina Belle as Aunt Gertrude. Comedian Marcus D. Wiley makes his on-screen debut as Pastor Reggie Fletcher and introducing newcomer Shamere Dunswell as Chad Moorer.
Coates in addition to adapting and directing, also produced.
The film will be released by One Culture, a multinational TV and film distribution company based in Atlanta, GA.
Coates is the President and CEO of 20/20 Visions Entertainment Group, based in West Hollywood. His most recent feature, Ageless Love, was released in 2022.
