EXCLUSIVE: Priya Kansara (Polite Society, Bridgerton) has joined the cast of the For All Mankind spinoff Star City from Apple and Sony Pictures Television. She will play Lakshmi, a gifted scientist, in a series regular role.
Kansara joins the previously announced cast of Rhys Ifans, Agnes O’Casey, Solly McLeod, Alice Englert, Adam Nagaitis, Josef Davies, and Ruby Ashbourne Serkis.
Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, Star City is another alt-history retelling of the space race, when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.
Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners and executive produce alongside Moore and Davis of Tall Ship Productions, along with Steve Oster and Andrew Chambliss. Just like the mothership For All Mankind, which was renewed for a fifth season, Star City is produced for Apple TV+ by Sony Pictures Television.
Kansara most recently starred as Rage in the BBC One and Sony Pictures Television Dope Girls. Before, she played Flo in Netflix’s The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself and Miss Eaton in Season 2 of the streamer’s hit series Bridgerton. In film, she starred as Ria in the Focus Features film Polite Society, written and directed by Nida Manzoor. Kansara is repped by IAG.
