EXCLUSIVE: Lionsgate is teaming with Pitch Perfect franchise and Last Breath producer Paul Brooks on worldwide rights to the survival horror film Rats!, which Lionsgate is launching for sales at the upcoming Cannes market.
The film will see New York City in a race against time to stop a killer rat infestation unlike anything the world has ever seen.
Todd Strauss-Schulson (Isn’t It Romantic) has been set to direct with Argyll producer and It: Welcome to Derry co-creator and co-showrunner Jason Fuchs also aboard to produce. Script comes from Paul Sado (Leo) and Strauss-Schulson. Smile and Argyll exec producer Adam Fishbach will serve as executive producer.
The deal follows Lionsgate’s collaboration with Brooks on the horror film Prey For The Devil, which took $45M worldwide.
As we reported earlier this week, Lionsgate will also be on the Croisette with the latest installment of big canvas action franchise Hunger Games.
Strauss-Schulson is represented by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Range Media Partners, and attorney Greg Slewett at JSSK. Sado is represented by TFC Management and Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn.
