‘Masquerade’ Sells Out First Six Weeks In Three Hours

-

The six-week preview period for Masquerade, Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s immersive spin-off of The Phantom of the Opera, sold out with three hours of going on sale this morning.

Due to the response, tickets to additional dates for Masquerade will be released on Wednesday, July 9, exclusively to those who have signed the “Phantom’s Ledger.”

Ticket-buyers today had the option of six different show times for evening performances, with entry times scheduled at 15-minute intervals. Matinee days saw the number of shows doubled.

Last week, producers announced that a six-week preview period would kick off on July 31 at the immersive show’s Midtown Manhattan home – a multi-floor space at 218 W. 57th St. Regular performances will begin after the preview period.

The show’s large cast will include two former Broadway Phantoms, Hugh Panaro and Jeremy Stolle, and at least one former Christine, Kaley Ann Voorhees. Roles have not been announced, but it is likely that the multi-room experience will require multiple Phantoms and maybe Christines.

The show synopsis reads: “Masquerade blurs the lines of reality, bringing audiences inside and closer than ever before to the strange affair of The Phantom of the Opera – a mystery never fully explained. From the highest rooftop to the subterranean lair deep below the Opera Populaire, guests will be invited to experience the Music Of The Night more intimately than ever before.”

Masquerade is based on the original musical The Phantom of the Opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe and book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Masquerade is presented by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Limited.
