EXCLUSIVE: Hulu announced this morning that Matteo Lane: The Al Dente Special, its first hour of stand-up from comedian Matteo Lane, is set to premiere on the streamer on Friday, May 16.
Marking Lane’s first special for a major service, The Al Dente Special comes on the heels of self-released specials including Hair Plugs & Heartache and The Advice Special, which the comic released in multiple installments. Comparing his stand-up to catching up with your old friend at brunch, Lane uses his new hour to share a glimpse into his travels, friendships and unique family background. He taped it at Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica last October.
Matteo Lane: The Al Dente Special is written, performed and executive produced by Lane. Additional executive producers include Ally Engelberg, Tiffany Schloesser, and Jared Lapidus, who also directed the special.
Boasting a major social media following, with 1.7M followers on Instagram, 1.6M followers on TikTok, and 1.1M subscribers on YouTube, Lane’s career journey has taken him from his hometown of Chicago to New York City comedy clubs to sold-out performances across the globe, including at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
Seen on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and HBO’s Crashing, Lane’s other credits include Amazon’s Upgraded, the Netflix series Survival of the Thickest, the film Molli & Max in the Future, which premiered at SXSW, and Netflix’s all queer stand-up special Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution.
The comic is currently touring nationwide on his Can’t Stop Talking Tour and is set to release a cookbook, Your Pasta Sucks, in April.
