Sylvester Stallone Auctions Off Watch Collection:Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone is parting ways with a prized collection of timepieces, including a never-before-seen Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, which will be the first of its kind to hit the commercial auction circuit.
The auction, set for June 5th at Sotheby’s “Important Watches” event in New York, features 11 watches from Stallone’s personal collection. The centerpiece is the aforementioned Patek Philippe, estimated to fetch between $2.5 million and $5 million. In a video posted by Sotheby’s, Stallone reflects on his passion for watches, describing them as more than just timekeeping tools. “They reflect where you are in life,” he says, “I don’t just buy them, I connect with them.”
Sylvester Stallone credits his early success with the Rocky franchise for giving him the resources to pursue his watch collecting hobby. He goes on to describe the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime as “the most intricate wristwatch ever created.” The watch comes with a personalized presentation box and documentation including Stallone’s name engraved on the box and a “Grandmaster Chime book”
Another interesting piece in the collection is a one-of-a-kind Panerai watch worn by Stallone throughout the filming of “The Expendables 2.” Stallone refers to this watch as his “companion” during the action-packed filming.
