‘The Mighty Ducks’ Joshua Jackson & Marguerite Moreau Announce NHL Pick

-

Ducks of a feather, Joshua Jackson and Marguerite Moreau are sticking together more than 30 years later to show their Mighty Ducks pride.

The pair, who starred together in the 1992 Disney movie, repped the Anaheim Ducks on Friday as they suited up in the team’s jerseys (with their to announce their first-round picks of the 2025 NHL Draft at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

“It’s been a while since I wore 96, so it’s nice to have back on,” said Jackson on NHL Tonight as he and Moreau sported jerseys with their characters’ names and team numbers.

While appearing onstage, Jackson and Moreau announced Roger McQueen as the Anaheim Ducks’ first draft pick, making him the 10th player selected overall.

Jackson played Charlie Conway, alongside Moreau’s Connie Moreau, in The Mighty Ducks, which followed reckless lawyer Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) as he’s arrested for drunk driving and ordered to coach the titular kids hockey team as community service.

In addition to launching the sequels D2 (1994) and D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996), as well as a 1996-’97 ABC animated series and the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (2021-’22), the financial success of the original 1992 film inspired The Walt Disney Company to form the NHL team in ’93, originally called the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim until Disney sold the franchise in 2005.

“I don’t think really any of us knew what we were doing and couldn’t possibly have even dreamed that this would be a possibility all these years later,” said Jackson.

The Doctor Odyssey alum noted that none of the draft picks had been born yet when the first movie came out. “Literally every single one of them. Some of their parents weren’t even born by the time we made the Mighty Ducks movies,” he joked on NHL Tonight.
