In the third phase of the India General Election 2024 Updates, Voter Turnout, and Key Contenders , which marks the halfway point of the seven-phase process, millions of voters cast their ballots to elect representatives for 93 seats in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament. This phase encompassed 11 states, each playing a crucial role in shaping the political landscape of the nation.
Previously, the first two phases of (India General Election 2024) were held on April 19th and April 26th, covering 190 constituencies. While the voter turnout for these phases stood at 66.1% and 66.7% respectively, it marked a slight decrease from the 2019 elections by about 4%.
The electoral battleground primarily features the National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), against the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, led by the main opposition Indian National Congress party.
With 543 seats in the Lok Sabha up for grabs, the outcome of this election will determine the formation of the next government. As the world’s largest democratic exercise, approximately 969 million registered voters are participating over a span of six weeks. The nation eagerly awaits the results, scheduled to be announced on June 4th.
