iPhone 17 Slim:According to a recent report from Jeff Pu, a reputable analyst at Haitong International Securities, significant changes are on the horizon for Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup. Pu suggests that the upcoming models will showcase a revamped design, enhancements to the front-facing camera system, a reduction in the size of the Dynamic Island, and more.
Apple has introduced a new variant called the “iPhone 17 Slim,” which is set to replace the traditional “Plus” model.
Here’s what the purported iPhone 17 lineup looks like, as outlined by Pu:
- iPhone 17: Featuring a 6.1-inch display
- iPhone 17 Slim: Sporting a 6.6-inch display
- iPhone 17 Pro: With a 6.3-inch display
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: Offering a substantial 6.9-inch display
In terms of design, Pu suggests that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, and iPhone 17 Pro will boast an aluminum build with a more intricate design. However, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will continue to be constructed from titanium. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to feature a downsized Dynamic Island, made possible by innovative “metalens” technology for the proximity sensor, potentially resulting in a significant reduction in the size of the Face ID sensor.
The emergence of the iPhone 17 Slim aligns with earlier reports from analyst Ross Young, indicating a departure from the “Plus” model and a focus on a sleeker design. Unfortunately, specific details regarding this slim variant are scarce in Pu’s report.
Regarding performance and specifications, Pu suggests the following:
- iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim: Equipped with 8GB of RAM and either an A18 or A19 chip
- iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: Featuring 12GB of RAM and the new A19 Pro chip
This marks a departure from the current iPhone 15 lineup, which offers 6GB of RAM for the standard models and 8GB for the Pro variants. Apple’s decision to unify RAM at 8GB for the iPhone 16 lineup this year will be followed by a return to bifurcation with the iPhone 17 lineup in 2025.
On the imaging front, all four iPhone 17 models are expected to boast a 24MP front-facing camera, a substantial upgrade from the current 12MP configuration. This aligns with previous reports by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, further solidifying expectations for the iPhone 17’s enhanced selfie capabilities.
