Every year right about now, the Emmy race starts ramping up, with lots of shows releasing in the spring sweet spot — they’ll be fresh in your minds for Emmys campaigning and inside of the May 31 eligibility cut-off date. Of course we’ll have plenty of big returning awards-centric shows—The Last of Us, Hacks, Poker Face, The Bear, Severance and The White Lotus, to name just a few— but what are the brand new shows we have yet to see?
You’ve likely already been watching Hulu’s twisty new show Paradise, which reunites Sterling K. Brown with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, Max’s The Pitt is bringing back the medical drama in a big way, CBS Kathy Bates-starrer Matlock is one to watch that’s already renewed for Season 2, as is Netflix’s smash hit Nobody Wants This… these new shows already made their debut. But with a tidal wave of TV still to come, here are ten hotly-anticipated brand new scripted shows set for spring, in order of release date:
Long Bright River (Peacock) March 13
Based on Liz Moore’s the bestselling thriller novel of the same name, Long Bright River stars Amanda Seyfried as Mickey Fitzpatrick, a police officer on the beat in a Philadelphia neighborhood buckling under the opioid crisis. While a killer roams the city, Mickey attempts to keep track of her estranged sister Kacey who has become an addict herself. The action moves back and forth from the present day to the sisters’ childhood with their addict parents as Mickey attempts to find whoever is murdering vulnerable women while keeping her sister safe. The show also stars Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman also star, while Seyfried serves as executive producer with co-creators Nikki Toscano and Moore.
Adolescence (Netflix) March 13
Netflix’s first-ever one-shot series follows Jamie Miller (breakout star Owen Cooper), a 13 year-old boy arrested for the murder of a classmate, and the subsequent fallout for his family, played out in real time. Created by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, who also stars as the boy’s father Eddie Miller, this limited series is directed by Philip Barantini, who previously made the BAFTA-nominated one-shot show Boiling Point with Graham. Ashley Walters (Top Boy) stars as lead investigating officer DI Luke Bascombe, along with Erin Doherty (The Crown) as Briony Ariston, the clinical psychologist assigned to Jamie’s case.

Seth Rogen is at the center of this half-hour ‘true Hollywood’ comedy as Matt Remick, a newly-appointed studio head trying to keep the business afloat in a shifting industry. Bryan Cranston, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, Chase Sui Wonders and Ike Barinholtz are series regulars, with many famous names making appearances, including Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, Martin Scorsese, Olivia Wilde, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Ice Cube, Greta Lee and Sarah Polley. And watch out for mentions of our very own Deadline! Rogen, Alex Gregory, Peter Huyck, Evan Goldberg and Frida Perez are creators. They executive produce alongside Josh Fagen, Alex McAtee and James Weaver.

This limited series was inspired by a Wondery podcast by the true story’s subject Molly Kochan and her friend Nikki Boyer. Michelle Williams stars as Kochan, a woman diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer who decides to leave her husband (Jay Duplass) to explore her sexual desires in the short time she has left. Jenny Slate plays Boyer, alongside Rob Delaney, Kelvin Yu, David Rasche, Esco Jouléy and Sissy Spacek. Co-creators are Kim Rosenstock & Liz Meriwether, who also serve as executive producers with Williams, Boyer, Katherine Pope; Kathy Ciric; Wondery’s Hernan Lopez, Jen Sargent, Marshall Lewy, Aaron Hart, Shannon Murphy and Leslye Headland.
Your Friends and Neighbors (Apple TV+) April 11

Jon Hamm leads this drama series (already renewed for Season 2) as Andrew Cooper, a hedge fund manager who takes to stealing from his neighbors after being booted from his job. Still mourning the end of his marriage to Mel (Amanda Peet) who has since taken up with NBA star Nick Brandes (Mark Tallman), Coop spirals into the criminal underworld to support his family’s lavish lifestyle and his struggling sister (Lena Hall), but things soon take an even darker turn. Also starring are Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Isabel Gravitt and Donavan Colan. The show is created and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (This is Where I Leave You), with Hamm also serving as EP alongside Lori Keith Douglas, Connie Tavel and Craig Gillespe.

From Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, creators of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel comes this new dramedy series set in the world of ballet. If you watched Sherman-Palladino’s 2012 show Bunheads, you know she is no stranger to a dance story, but this series takes a different approach as it dives deep into the staff and politics of two ballet companies in New York and Paris, as they attempt to stay afloat by swapping their most talented dancers. Maisel‘s Luke Kirby and Charlotte Gainsbourg are joined in the cast by Lou de Laâge, David Alvarez, Yanic Truesdale, David Haig, John Lam and Simon Callow. Sherman-Palladino and Palladino executive produce with Scott Ellis and Dana Rivera Gilbert.

The Four Seasons follows six coupled-up friends who vacation together: Kate (Tina Fey) and Jack (Will Forte); Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), and Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani). Tensions arise along the longtime pals and partners when one couple splits and the husband begins bringing a much younger woman on trips. The series is created by Fey, Lang Fisher (Never Have I Ever) and Tracey Wigfield (30 Rock), who also serve as executive producers with David Milner, Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond.

Adapted from the thriller novel of the same name by Alafair Burke, The Better Sister stars Jessica Biel as Chloe, a well-to-do wife and mom estranged from her addiction-embattled sister Nicky (Elizabeth Banks). When Chloe’s husband Adam (Corey Stoll) is murdered, Nicky reappears and convoluted relationships and family secrets are revealed. Who is really the better sister? Banks and Biel executive produce, with creators Olivia Milch (Oceans 8) and Regina Corrado (Mayor of Kingstown), Marty Adelstein, Alissa Bachner, Becky Clements, Craig Gillespe, Annie Marter and Michelle Purple.
