UPDATED, 9 AM: American Cinema Editors has set a new date for its postponed ACE Eddie Awards. The 75th anniversary ceremony will be Friday, March 14, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The show was postponed from its original January 18 date due to the Los Angeles wildfires.
“We are incredibly grateful to UCLA and Royce Hall for their flexibility and support in helping us secure this new date,” said ACE Executive Director Jenni McCormick. “We are also thankful for the understanding of our nominees, honorees, sponsors, and partners as we navigated this unforeseen circumstance and added fundraising elements to our show in response to the overwhelming need our community is facing due to the recent wildfires.”
Added the honorary society’s new president Sabrina Plisco: “This additional time allows us to readjust, show our resilience as a community and properly celebrate our incredible honorees and nominees in a meaningful way while also giving back to those impacted by the wildfires.”
Dave Holmes will hot the Eddies, which will honor winners in 14 categories of film, TV and documentaries.

PREVIOUSLY, January 13: American Cinema Editors’ 75th anniversary ACE Eddie Awards is moving off of its January 18 date amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, organizers said late Monday.
Originally, the ceremony had been set to take place in UCLA’s Royce Hall on January 18. ACE’s annual Nominee Cocktail Party, a private event for nominees only scheduled for January 16, also is being pushed, with new dates expected to be announced soon.
As previously announced, this year’s ACE Eddies have pivoted since the fires broke out from a black-tie, red carpet event to a “Come as You Are” community-building fundraiser with a portion of ticket sales being donated to wildfire relief.
In a statement to members, ACE said: “Due to the ongoing concerns for safety within our LA communities, we have made arrangements with UCLA and Royce Hall to postpone the 75th ACE Eddie Awards. The preceding Nominee Cocktail Party will also be rescheduled. The ACE Board agrees it is smarter and safer for everyone to push to a later date (TBD). When that date is finalized, we will still be pivoting the ceremony to a community-building fundraiser rather than a full-fledged black-tie gala. As soon as we know more, we will share the information.”
Noting the “unprecedented” nature of recent events, organizers added, “We are trying to stay as fluid as possible. Again, as soon as we have details we will let you know, and when the event finally happens we will need to band together more than ever before. Thank you for your understanding, and it goes without saying that our hearts go out to all of our members who have been affected by the fires and to our industry as a whole.”
As previously announced, at this year’s ACE Eddies, Wicked‘s Jon M. Chu will receive the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, recognizing a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film. Additionally, film editors Maysie Hoy, ACE and Paul Hirsch, ACE will receive Career Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to film editing.
“We look forward to honoring the incredible work of our honorees and nominees and coming together as a community to support each other,” said ACE president Sabrina Plisco, ACE. “In the meantime, we are keeping everyone impacted by these fires in our hearts.”
Unpredictability surrounding L.A.’s wildfires has caused chaos on the awards circuit in the days since they broke out. Just today, both the American Society of Cinematographers and the Writers Guild of America made the call to postpone their nominations announcements for the second time due to the fires, as the PGA did the day prior. The natural disaster has previously seen the postponement of everything from the Critics Choice Awards and the AFI Awards Luncheon to ceremonies of the American Cinematheque and the AARP.
