EXCLUSIVE: The Boys‘ Claudia Doumit and Ellie De Lange (Wolf Hall) are set as series regulars in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s sci-fi drama series 3 Body Problem, from creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo.
Based on the “Remembrance of Earth’s Past” trilogy by Chinese author Cixin Liu, 3 Body Problem chronicles humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization. It follows a young woman, whose fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unflinching detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.
In Season 2, As the alien invasion nears, humanity prepares — on Earth and elsewhere.
Doumit will play Captain Van Rijn and De Lange will portray Ayla.
Season 1 cast included Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Ben Schnetzer and Eve Ridley.
The first season of the drama series spent three weeks at No.1 and seven weeks on the Netflix Global Top 10, where it reached the Top 10 in 93 countries. Three songs from its soundtrack also landed on Billboard’s Top TV Songs Chart, including Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” at #1.
Benioff, Weiss and Woo serve as co-creators, writers and executive producers. Additional executive producers include Bernadette Caulfield (Game of Thrones, The X-Files); Duncan Muggoch; T-Street’s Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi), Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue; Qi Lin, the late former Chairman of Yoozoo Group; Jilong Zhao, CEO of the rights-holder, Three-Body Universe; Plan B Entertainment’s Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner; Primitive Streak’s Rosamund Pike and Robie Uniacke. Jeremy Podeswa and Miguel Sapochnik will direct and serve as Executive Producers.
Doumit most recently was seen in the role of Victoria Neuman on Prime Video’s The Boys. On the film side, Doumit will next be seen in Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s M3GAN spinoff SOULM8TE. Doumit is repped by Cultivate Entertainment and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman et al.
De Lange will next be seen in Harlan Coben’s upcoming Netflix series Run Away. She’s known for her work on Wolf Hall and The Serpent, among others. She’s repped by Henneman Agency and The Artists Partnership.
