Disney+ and the BBC have revealed that Doctor Who Season 2 will premiere on the streaming platform on Saturday, April 12, at 12 a.m. PT and 3 a.m. ET., with UK audiences able to watch on the BBC and stream it on iPlayer same day.
The eight-episode second season (Season 15 overall) will then premiere new episodes weekly.
Alan Cumming is also set to guest star in the second episode of the second season and voice the character Mr. Ring-a-Ding, a happy, funny, singalong cartoon who lives in Sunny Town with his friend Sunshine Sally.
However, in 1952, after years of repeats in cinemas across the land, Mr Ring-a-Ding suddenly looks beyond the screen and sees the real world outside — and the consequences are terrifying, Disney+ teased.
This is not the first time that The Traitors U.S. host appears in the Whoniverse. Cumming played King James I in a 2018 Doctor Who episode titled “The Witchfinders.”
“Only Alan Cumming could give a runaway cartoon so much wit, malice, danger and fun. He makes the whole universe of Doctor Who wilder and madder than ever, and it’s an absolute honor to welcome him on board the TARDIS,” showrunner, executive producer and writer Russell T Davies said.
