Wendy Williams To Receive New Psych Tests After ‘View’ Appearance

-

Former talk show host Wendy Williams called in for an interview on The View this morning, speaking passionately about her recent travails of life in a memory care unit that made headlines when she went out to dinner with her niece and may or may not have had permission to leave the assisted living facility.

Paparazzi had greeted Williams when she returned to the facility after the dinner excursion (Williams said she also visited a hospital for an evaluation and to have blood drawn her thyroid condition).

Williams says the dinner excursion was within the rule of the memory care unit but was told upon her return that it was not.

The situation was the latest incident in which Williams had publicly insisted that she did not need to live in a memory care unit and, in fact, wanted a new guardian and a new judge in the case that landed her in confinement. (In addition to Graves disease, Williams reportedly has been diagnosed with dementia and aphasia; while she had said in the past that she suffers from substance abuse issues, she told The View today that she no longer drinks except for one birthday celebration last July).

Shortly after her phone-in appearance to The View cohosts (sans Whoopi Goldberg, who has Fridays off), Sunny Hostin, the panel’s legal expert, read the following statement: “We think it is important to note that her legal guardian now believes it would be prudent for Wendy to undergo a new medical evaluation that will involve comprehensive neurological and psychological testing by a specialist in the field. This would be more thorough testing than what she had mentioned earlier. The judge has agreed to do that. And when we learn more, we will let you know.”

While Hostin did not name the guardian or judge, Williams’ legal guardian is Sabrina E. Morrissey and the judge in the case is Judge Lisa Sokolof.

Williams’ guardianship was triggered by Wells Fargo bank after the talk show host’s bank account indicated unusual activity. It was later determined that Williams could not care for her finances. Williams has repeatedly disagreed with that assertion.

Without naming the guardian and the judge, Williams told The View, “These two people don’t look like me, talk like me, act like me…you know, get off my neck! I can’t do it with these two people…”
