Scott Foley teased his return to the Scream franchise for the seventh installment despite his character’s death.
Foley’s first film credit was in 2000’s Scream 3 where he played the role of Roman Bridger, who turns out to be the serial killer and is killed off in the end. The actor returns for Scream VII and in an appearance on Good Morning America he teased his character’s return.
“I don’t know how it works out,” Foley said about returning to the franchise. “Spoiler alert! 25 years ago I was the killer in Scream 3 and he was brutally taken to town and killed. And now I’m back in Scream 7 and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.”
Foley said that reuniting with his former co-stars was “the best,” adding, “It’s so much fun and I got to see Neve [Campbell] again and David Arquette again. And Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first one and put me in… I was in Dawson’s Creek, which was the first TV show he did years ago — he’s directing this one. And we had so much fun being on set. It was just great being around people you love and know.”
Williamson returned to the franchise he helped start as the writer for the original film released in 1996 and directed by Wes Craven. The filmmaker took to social media earlier this year to celebrate the end of filming for Scream VII.
“I’m not supposed to post about Scream and I hope @spyglassmediagr and @paramountpics will forgive me but when you have one of the best days of your life it’s really hard to keep it to yourself,” Williamson shared on Instagram. “What an extraordinary day I had working with an amazing and talented cast and crew. They brought their ‘A’ game and had my back every step of the way.”
He continued, “I’m so very grateful for this opportunity and to Wes Craven who was on my mind through it all. The profound impact he has had on my life and career is endless. What a day! I can’t wait for tomorrow! #scream7.”
Scream 7 is set to open on February 27, 2026, and Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell will return to the franchise they started in 1996. Williamson created the franchise and will direct the seventh installment, with Guy Busick set to write the script.
Courteney Cox is also set to reprise her role of Gale Weathers from the original slasher film. Mason Gooding will reprise his role of Chad Meeks-Martin. Newcomer Isabel May will play Sidney’s daughter, with Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp also on board in new, undisclosed roles.
