Bobby Moynihan Joins NBC’s Tracy Morgan Comedy Pilot

-

EXCLUSIVE: Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan has been tapped as a series regular opposite Tracy Morgan in NBC‘s untitled comedy pilot from Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Sam Means.

In addition to sharing Saturday Night Live background with Morgan, Fey, Carlock and Means, Moynihan was a series regular on NBC’s Mr. Mayor and did an arc on Netflix’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, both co-created and executive produced by Fey and Carlock. He also guest starred on the duo’s 30 Rock, created by and starring Fey. Means worked on all three series.

NBC’s untitled Tracy Morgan comedy pilot, written by Carlock and Means and directed by Rhys Thomas, centers on Reggie (Morgan), a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image.

Moynihan will play Gator, Reggie’s loyal former teammate who has always stuck with him even when things went sideways.

In addition to Morgan, Moynihan joins previously cast series regulars Daniel Radcliffe and Erika Alexander.

Carlock, Means and Morgan executive produce with Fey, Eric Gurian and David Miner. Rhys Thomas is executive producer of the pilot only. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where Fey, Carlock and Means are under overall deals, produces with Little Stranger, Bevel Gears and 3 Arts.

Moynihan, who was a Saturday Night Live cast member for nine seasons, recently appeared on SNL50: The Anniversary Special, reprising his role as Drunk Uncle on Weekend Update.

He currently recurs on the CBS series NCIS: Origins, and his upcoming projects include the Pixar film Hoppers. Moynihan is repped by UTA, Provissiero Entertainment and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
