Jonah Hill is circling to headline, write and direct Cut Off for Warner Bros. The movie, we hear, is about two rich siblings who are cut off from their parents.
It’s early days on the project, hence there are no cast attachments. The production went ahead and notched a $10M California tax credit for what’s expected to be a $49M feature production. Cut Off is planning to shoot this summer.
Cut Off would rep Hill’s third narrative feature as a director after A24’s Mid90s and the upcoming Apple movie Outcome which stars Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer and Hill. That pic, which Hill produced via his Strong Baby production label with Matt Dines and Ali Goodman, is set to debut later this year.
That comedy crime drama follows Hollywood star Reef as he is forced to confront his problems and atone for his past after being threatened by a bizarre video footage from his past.
Strong Baby also produced the highly anticipated Amazon/A24 series Overcompensating starring Benino Skinner which debuts later this spring.
Hill directed the critically acclaimed documentary Stutz for Netflix. That docu centered around Hill and his therapist. The filmmaker has candid discussions of mental health and the progressively worsening anxiety attacks related to movie promotion that have turned his dream job into a nightmare.
Hill is a 2x Best Supporting Actor nominee for Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Hill is repped by WME, LBI, Narrative and Kevin Yorn
