Assemble Media has appointed Greg Ferguson as Vice President, Executive Editor of Literary and IP.
Ferguson will oversee the development, acquisition, and sale of literary properties with strong multi-platform potential.
Ferguson joins Assemble Media from 3BlackDot, where he served as SVP Head of Publishing, after at 3Blackdot acquired James Frey’s Full Fathom Five, where Ferguson served as Editorial Director. At 3BlackDot, Ferguson led the company’s book IP business, securing publishing deals with major industry players such as HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Bloomsbury, Hachette, Little, Brown, and Macmillan. Under his leadership, the company published multiple New York Times bestsellers, including titles from the Lorien Legacies series and The Proudest Blue.
Prior to his role at 3BlackDot, Ferguson was the Editorial Director at Full Fathom Five, the literary development and production company founded by bestselling author James Frey. In this role, he was instrumental in acquiring and developing IP-driven book projects across genres, many of which were adapted into film and television. Ferguson’s work at Full Fathom Five helped launch several commercial properties, contributing to the company’s eventual acquisition by 3BlackDot.
Earlier in his career, Ferguson held editorial positions at Egmont USA and HarperCollins Children’s Books, where he played a key role in acquiring and editing books across a wide range of genres. His expertise in identifying high-concept storytelling and building franchises has made him a standout figure in the publishing world.
“We are incredibly excited to have Greg join Assemble and expand upon the company’s rapid Literary and IP division growth. Greg’s expertise in publishing, IP development, and franchise-building is the perfect fit as we continue to increase our storytelling reach,” said Jack Heller, Founder and Principal of Assemble Media.
