Antonia Hylton and Elise Jordan will join Ayman Mohyeldin and Catherine Rampell as hosts of MSNBC‘s upcoming The Weekend: Primetime, to debut in early May.
The show is an extension of the network’s weekend morning show. The nighttime edition will air from 6 p.m. ET to 9 p.m. ET on Saturdays and Sundays.
Jordan is an MSNBC and NBC News political analyst, and Hylton is an NBC News and MSNBC correspondent.
MSNBC also is expanding the morning edition of The Weekend to three hours, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET. Jonathan Capehart, Eugene Daniels and Jackie Alemany will host. The current morning team — Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez — are moving to the 7 p.m. ET weekday primetime slot.
In addition to their roles as hosts, Jordan will serve as MSNBC contributor and Hylton as MSNBC correspondent. The network is building up its talent pool as it will be spun off from parent Comcast, meaning that NBC News no longer will be a sister news outlet. Scott Matthews will serve as MSNBC’s senior vice president of newsgathering.
Hylton was previously a correspondent and producer for Vice Media and for HBO’s nightly Vice News Tonight. Jordan previously served in press and communications roles in the George W. Bush administration, including in the White House and at the National Security Council and State Department.
