The national tour of The Who’s Tommy, the Des McAnuff-revival that played on Broadway last year, has been delayed by a year, with a new launch date of Fall 2026.
Producers had previously announced that the tour would kick off in Fall 2025 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
The new date is now posted on the show’s website, though no reason for the delay is given. Deadline has reached out to representatives for the tour for additional information and will update this post as necessary.
The Broadway revival, which received mostly positive reviews, received only one 2024 Tony Award nomination (for Best Musical Revival) and went home empty-handed. After a strong start, the much-anticipated revival failed to catch sustained box office fire. Previews began at the Nederlander Theatre on March 8, 2024, and opening night was 20 days later. When it closed July 21, it had played 20 previews and 132 regular performances.
The Who’s Tommy features music and lyrics by Pete Townshend and book by Townshend and McAnuff, with the two authors revising and updating their original 1993 Broadway staging that played 900 performances.
Last year’s Broadway revival starred Ali Louis Bourzgui as Tommy, Alison Luff as Mrs. Walker, Adam Jacobs as Captain Walker, John Ambrosino as Uncle Ernie, Bobby Conte as Cousin Kevin, and Christina Sajous as The Acid Queen. Casting has not been announced for the tour.
Bourzgui is set to join the cast of Broadway’s Hadestown on May 6 as main character Orpheus.
