EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios‘ Orion Pictures is developing Nanny Cam, a thriller based on the short story by Nelson Greaves (unt. Art Bell biopic), who will adapt the screenplay with George Tillman Jr. (The Hate U Give) directing.
The film follows a married couple with marital issues who leaves a babysitter at home with their three kids during a rare night out. When they see someone in their house on the nanny cam, the night goes horribly awry, and they must race home and work together to save their kids.
Bob Teitel (Bob Marley: One Love, The Hate U Give) and Tillman Jr. are set to produce under their State Street Pictures banner.
As a writer, director, and producer, Tillman Jr.’s work has spanned projects including Soul Food, Men of Honor, Barbershop, Notorious, and The Hate U Give, among others. Currently prepping a film titled The Prince of New York, based on a New York Times article and the bestselling book My Name is Tani, the filmmaker has also recently attached to direct a feature adaptation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None in development at 20th Century Studios.
Currently co-writing a feature about the late paranormal DJ Art Bell, to be directed by Radio Silence with Paul Giamatti starring, Greaves’ other film credits include the horror flick Unfriended for Blumhouse and Universal and Inspector Gadget for Disney/Rideback. Over the years, he’s also contributed to numerous series, from Apple’s current Jon Hamm vehicle Your Friends and Neighbors to titles like See, Joe Pickett, Invasion, Magic Order, Deception, 24, and Sleepy Hollow. Additionally, Greaves has co-written Unabom for Netflix/2.0 and created his own graphic novel, The Carlyle School for Kings, with Dark Horse.
Tillman Jr. and Greaves are both with CAA and Kaplan/Perrone. Tillman Jr. is also repped by Ziffren Brittenham; Greaves by Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Teitel is with CAA and Ziffren Brittenham.
