Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Chosen: Last Supper, leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, and revealed its streaming date.

In addition to the U.S., the new season will be available on Prime Video in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, UK, and Latin America in July.
In the trailer, it’s clear dark days are ahead for Jesus, played by Jonathan Roumie, as he clashes with the money changers in the Temple of Jerusalem,.
“My house should be a house of prayer, but you make it a den of thieves!” Jesus yells as Judas (Luke Dimyan) watches. “What have you done?” Judas whispers.
The release on Prime Video follows its theatrical run that began on March 28 in the U.S. and on April 11 internationally, grossing nearly $60 million at the box office. Later this month, The Chosen: Last Supper Parts 2 (episodes 3-5) and 3 (episodes 6-8) will be released in theatres in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Cumulatively, over the past three years, The Chosen’s theatrical releases have grossed nearly $140 million worldwide in 55 countries.
Per the Season 5 logline, The Chosen: Last Supper follows Jesus’ (Roumie) triumph to treachery as his final days unfold in a story that changed the world. Welcomed as a king into Jerusalem, he boldly confronts the corrupt merchants, sparking a chain of events that shakes the city. While religious leaders scramble to silence his growing influence, Jesus shares one last meal with his closest followers. But in the shadows, Judas makes a deal that seals both their fates. In a tale of power, faith, and betrayal that echoes through time – one man’s ultimate sacrifice becomes humanity’s greatest story.
In addition to Roumie and Dimyan, cast also includes Shahar Isaac as Peter, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Noah James as Andrew, George H. Xanthis as John, Abe Bueno-Jallad as Big James, Vanessa Benavente as Mother Mary, Richard Fancy as Caiaphas, Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod, and Andrew James Allen as Pontius Pilate.
Written, directed and produced by Dallas Jenkins and produced by 5&2 Studios, The Chosen is a hit historical drama based on the life of Jesus, seen through the eyes of those who knew him.
Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios inked a wide-ranging first-look deal with Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios, giving the studio exclusive US streaming rights to the first five seasons and future of The Chosen and new unscripted series The Chosen in The Wild With Bear Grylls for Prime Video. The pact also includes theatrical and streaming rights to The Chosen’s upcoming final two seasons, which will follow the crucifixion (Season 6) and the resurrection (Season 7). Season 6 production is currently underway in the U.S. and Italy.
