Game of Thrones universe fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next series in HBO‘s fantasy franchise.
During Warner Bros. Discovery’s upfront presentation, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, revealed that A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms will debut in 2026.
The adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s three Dunk and Egg novellas was previously slated to premiere in late 2025. According to sources, the drama will now launch at the top of 2026.
Martin already has given the new series a seal of approval. The six-episode first season is based on the first book, The Hedge Knight.
HBO‘s Head of Drama Series and Films Francesca Orsi spoke with Deadline earlier this year about A Knight of Seven Kingdoms, done on a smaller, more “intimate” scale than the other Game of Throne series, confirming that the show is still on track for a three-season run.
“You’re going be so impressed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Dunk and Egg, the two leads,” she said. “So much so that we’re already planning on how do we build this for the three seasons in total. We’re not picking it up officially, but it’s looking very good.”
