Chris Brown has been remanded in custody after being charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with an alleged bottle attack on a music producer in a London nightclub in 2023.
The 36-year-old singer was arrested at 2AM at the Lowry Hotel in Greater Manchester on Thursday and appeared in Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
He was denied bail and has been remanded in custody until June 13, when a hearing is scheduled to take place at Southwark Crown Court in London. The court date is days before the Grammy-winner is due to embark on a tour of the UK.
Brown has been accused of an unprovoked attack on producer Abe Diaw at London’s Tape Nightclub in Febuary 2023. Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said the incident involved an “unprovoked attack,” during which the alleged victim was struck with a bottle, punched, and kicked.
Per press reports, Brown appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court wearing a black T-shirt and jogging bottoms, speaking to confirm his name, date of birth, and giving the Lowry Hotel as his address.
