EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video‘s Overcompensating has locked in its submissions for the 2025 Emmys.
Series creator Benito Skinner, who also serves as writer and executive producer, will contend in the Lead Actor and Outstanding Comedy Series categories. Wally Baram will vie for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and Adam DiMarco will compete for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, along with Rish Shah. Mary Beth Barone and Holmes are up for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Additionally, Kyle MacLachlan, Connie Britton, James Van Der Beek and Charli XSX will vie for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. English singer-songwriter Charli XCX also produces original music for the series.
Based loosely on Skinner’s own college experience, Overcompensating centers around a closeted college freshman (aptly named Benny and played by Skinner) who has yet to come out of the closet. Hijinks ensue as he tries to hide his sexuality while also navigating the new world of college life.
Overcompensating hails from Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby productions and A24. Skinner writes and executive produces with Hill, Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin of Strong Baby.
Other fields where Overcompensating will be vying for nominations include Directing for a Comedy Series, Writing for a Comedy Series, Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), Casting for a Comedy Series, Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour), Contemporary Costumes, Title Design, Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, Contemporary Hairstyling, Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Music Supervision, Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation and Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming.
