EXCLUSIVE: ColorCreative has signed Japanese actress and model Yuka Kouri for management.
Kouri is best known for her role of Kiku in the Emmy-winning FX series Shōgun, based on the novel by James Clavell, which is heading into its second season. Her character in the show, set in feudal Japan, is the highest-ranking courtesan in Izu, who is skilled in ways known only to the select few men who can afford her.
“Yuka imbues her portrayal of ‘Kiku’ with profound emotional resonance, embodying a woman governed by duty yet unmistakably alive with feeling,” said Raj Raghavan, Co-Head of Talent at ColorCreative. “We are thrilled to welcome her to the ColorCreative family, and we look forward to guiding her toward new opportunities in international film and television.”
Kouri’s other U.S. acting credits include Tokyo Vice (Max) and Invasion (Apple TV+). Currently, she plays Karen in the Fuji TV series Heart Attack, based on the popular anime, which is produced by Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment.
Among her upcoming projects is the film Young & Fine, which is slated for release in Japanese theaters next month. She is also part of the cast of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, director Takashi Miike’s new film for Neon, where she stars opposite Lily James and Shun Oguri.
Co-founded by Issa Rae, Deniese Davis, and Talitha Watkins, ColorCreative is a management and production company that aims to champion innovative and inclusive entertainment. Most recently, the company produced the acclaimed TriStar comedy One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA, which topped the domestic box office in January before going on to hit #1 on Netflix’s charts.
