EXCLUSIVE: After helping relaunch the Jurassic World franchise at Universal, Director Colin Trevorrow as set his sights on his next project revolving around another infamous location featuring creatures not of this world. Sources tell Deadline, Trevorrow is set to direct and produce an untitled conspiracy thriller at Paramount Pictures with Maximum Effort also on board to produce. Trevorrow will produce through his Metronome banner with Ryan Reynolds, George Dewey, Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau will produce for the Maximum Effort with Patrick Gooing exec producing.
The project is set in the late 1980’s and follows the local Las Vegas TV news journalist who first broke the story of Area 51. Thomas and William Wheeler wrote the script and will executive produce along with Metronome’s Annys Hamilton.
After his breakout film Safety Not Guaranteed blew away Sundance audiences in 2012, Trevorrow would go on to land the highly-coveted Jurassic World job shortly after. That film would not only go on to become one of the biggest films of all time but help relaunch the franchise that Trevorrow has had a part in ever since. He would write and exec produce the sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and would return to the directors chair for the most recent pic, Jurassic World: Dominion in 2022 with that film also crossing the billion dollar marker.
Both Trevorrow and Maximum Effort are repped by WME with the Wheelers repped by Anonymous Content and Gersh.
