Sepideh Moafi has joined the series regular cast of the HBO Max hit medical drama The Pitt, playing an attending physician in emergency medicine.
From creator R. Scott Gemmill and producer John Wells, The Pitt chronicles the urgent challenges U.S. frontline healthcare professionals face through the lens of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department. Offering a real-time format, the series traces, hour-by-hour, the medical cases and personal crises physicians and nurses must navigate as they reckon with an overabundance of patients and a lack of resources.
The series is led by Noah Wyle, who also executive produces and writes. The ensemble cast also includes Katherine LaNasa, Tracy Ifeachor, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez, Gerran Howell and guest star Shawn Hatosy.
Gemmill previously teased Deadline that Season 2, currently in production, will take place over the Fourth of July weekend. He said the sophomore installment would feature a time jump, new characters and possible promotions for the cast set to return.
As Deadline previously confirmed exclusively earlier this month, Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, and Lucas Iverson joined the recurring cast.
The medical drama is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television — where JWP is under an overall deal. EPs are Wyle, Wells, JWP’s Erin Jontow, Michael Hissrich and Simran Baidwan.
Moafi recently starred as the female lead in the Apple TV+ miniseries Black Bird and FX/Hulu’s Class of ’09. She is also widely known for playing Gigi in Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q. Her TV credits also include HBO’s The Deuce, USA’s Falling Water, ABC’s Notorious, ABC’s Black Box, and the animated series HBO Max’s Scavengers Reign. On film, she stars in Paramount+’s I’ll Be Right There and the Sundance Film Festival favorite The Killing of Two Lovers for Neon. She is represented by Principal Entertainment LA, Gersh Agency, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
