We’re getting the first look at footage of Leanne, Netflix‘s upcoming comedy series co-created by Leanne Morgan, Chuck Lorre and Susan McMartin, in a trailer released Tuesday by the streamer.
“You take a vow, and then 33 years of complete and utter devotion, you find out he’s run off with a younger woman,” says voiceover by Morgan at the beginning of the trailer.
“Look what he’s turned me into,” a distraught Morgan says at one point in the trailer. “I’m like Hulk Hogan with breasts.”
In the multicam comedy, per the logline, Leanne’s (Morgan) world is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years unexpectedly leaves her for another woman. Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Kristen Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter and hope in the most unexpected places. This heartfelt comedy proves that it’s never too late to rewrite your story.
McMartin, Lorre and Morgan executive produce with Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel. In addition to Morgan and Johnston, the series stars Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers and Hannah Pilkes. Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez and Blake Gibbons recur.
Leanne comes from Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Leanne premieres July 31 on Netflix.
