EXCLUSIVE: Actor and comedian Mike Epps has signed with Artists First for management.
A veteran comic who launched his stand-up career back in 1995 with an appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, which he’d go on to host years later, Epps has thus far put out six comedy specials, the most recent being Ready to Sell Out on Netflix in 2024. It was his fourth for the platform following Indiana Mike (2022), Only One Mike (2019) and Don’t Take It Personal (2015), his other past hours being Under Rated… Never Faded & X -Rated and Inappropriate Behavior.
Currently, Epps can be seen starring in Netflix’s sitcom The Upshaws, heading into its fifth and final season, which he also produces. A show about a working-class family, set in his Indiana hometown, the show has been nominated for 10 NAACP Image Awards, with Epps winning for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series in 2024.
Epps has also been seen on shows like I’m a Virgo, Survivor’s Remorse, and Winning Time, among others. Notable film credits include Snoop Dogg’s The Underdoggs, Kenya Barris’ You People, Dolemite Is My Name opposite Eddie Murphy, Troop Zero, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, HBO’s Emmy-winning biopic Bessie, Girls Trip, and multiple installments in the Hangover and Resident Evil franchises, to name just a few.
In 2017, HarperCollins published Epps’ first book, Unsuccessful Thug, about his life growing up around violence and how comedy set him a path to something better. Among many other projects, he can also be seen in the HGTV special Buying Back the Block, which follows him and his wife Kyra as they buy several homes on his childhood block in Indianapolis, with the goal to revitalize the neighborhood and bring back the charm, community and character that the comic valued growing up.
Epps continues to be repped by UTA, producing partner Niles Kirchner, attorney Todd Rubenstein, IAG for stand-up, and Kovert for publicity.
