Colman Domingo had a bit of a full circle moment in his acting career Tuesday, celebrating his second Emmy nomination on the set of the series for which he earned his first.
The actor was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 77th Emmy Awards for his role as Danny in Netflix’s The Four Seasons. He was previously nominated (and won) for his guest role in Season 2 of HBO’s Euphoria.
Speaking with Deadline before starting his work day on the set of the third season, Domingo said: “Maybe it’s a good luck charm, being here with my cast from Euphoria.”
The actor remained tight-lipped about Season 3 details, but he did say “we’re creating some epic story, and I’m having a great time.”

By this time, Domingo had already spoken with the cast and crew of The Four Seasons after receiving the series’ sole nomination, including co-creator and star Tina Fey, who is busy penning the second season.
He says he doesn’t know much about what the writers have in store for Season 2, but he’s got a few ideas of what he’d like to see when it comes to Danny.
“I love that they’ve sort of kept it under wraps for me right now, but I hope that we get into a Danny and Claude vacation, because we’ve seen everyone else plan them, but let’s see the world that Danny likes to populate, and how he likes to move through the world,” Domingo said. “I love leaning into the friendship with me and Tina Fey. I think that’s a great foundation for the show as well. So I look forward to playing with my cast again. I hope there’s some way to bring Steve Carell back, because I love playing with him. We really became an actual family on set.”
The Four Seasons is a return to comedy for Domingo, who has spent much of his film and television career thus far in starring in dramas. However, he comes from the theater, where he jokes he spent his Shakespearean days “dusting off 300 year old jokes and being a clown.”
“I think people who know me, they believe that I’m a pretty funny person, but I never get a chance to flex it. So it felt great,” he added. “Comedy is actually very hard, and especially it could be daunting when you walk into a room and you know that you’re with Steve Carell, Will Forte, Tina Fey and Kerri Kenney-Silver, and you’re like, ‘Okay, I really need to up my game.’ They’re like mathematicians or mad scientists when it comes to landing a joke and knowing how to set it up and then turn it, so I feel like I was also learning from my cast mates as well, because they’re really expert at what they do.”
When asked how he plans to celebrate his nomination, Domingo says he hopes to ring in the occasion with his Euphoria cast first and foremost. As for his plans after work, he says whatever he does won’t be too flashy.
“I like doing something small. I don’t need to do anything big. I’ll do something maybe.. go to one of my restaurants that I love to frequent, and just taking this blessing,” he said. “It’s all such a blessing to do what you love, and to be recognized for it is also like icing on the cake. So it’s really lovely.”
