Who is that resourceful Scottish announcer on Love Island?
Iain Stirling has double shifted as the narrator for both Love Island UK and Love Island USA. He has a tough schedule while filming.
“At 12pm in the UK, I’ll be logged on to love the UK,” the Scottish comedian detailed in 2024. “At that point, the show was all over. Then I wrote two or three hours four hours, four and half. 8, this is really early.”
Sterling sees rough cuts from the house on Zoom, executive producer Parrish explains to Rap, where he and the writer “observe interesting things in the scene, remind me of what happened in the story, or recorded on his microphone.”
His narration is added to the episode before the episode is sent to Peacock’s Legals and Standards team (which includes notes that require last-minute changes).
“We tried to finish by about 12 or 1am in the morning. Then I keep getting up to half to three. This isn’t the end of the US show yet,” Sterling said today. “In a dream world, you’ll stay up like five or six in the morning, but that would basically involve me not sleeping.”
Evidence that a franchise can create eternal bonds: Sterling welcomed former Love Island UK host Laura Whitmore, whom he married in 2020, and welcomed her daughter in March 2021.
