Tottenham Hotspur reportedly replaced the injured James Madison with an offer of 40 million euros rejected by Como for Nico Pass.
Madison tore the ACL during a preseason match against Newcastle, but the scan later revealed he will be competing for most of the new season.
So new manager Thomas Frank made an unexpected hole in the middle, urging clubs in North London to look for alternatives.
Although names like Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey are linked, Italian media suggest that the Spurs are targeting 20-year-old Como midfielder Nico Pass.
Spain-born Argentina joined Como only last season, but was impressed by his first season in Italy. Before that, he spent six years at Real Madrid Academy, resulting in eight league matches for the first team of the 2023-24 season.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Spurs offered Paz a bid of 40 million euros, but was rejected by the part of Cesc Fabregas.
Di Marzio says the club will value players at 70 million euros and will need to offer at least 60 million euros before negotiations begin.
Como’s claims about high prices could be due to contractual provisions that Madrid put into sale, allowing 50% of the fee to be collected.
Meanwhile, Ryan Taylor of Daily Mirror Reporter claims that Tottenahm’s sources refused to submit their bid.
Dejan Kulusevski is also on the sidelines for the first month of the new season, so Spurs are expected to enter the transfer market, with a look at Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannous.
Also on the list is Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott. He is believed to be available for a fee for around £45 million, but he was able to move to Leipzig to replace Zabi Simons, tied up by Chelsea.
Monaco’s Magnes Acryuce and Crystal Palace’s Ebeki Eze are also options for the Europa League champions.
Since moving to Spurs in 2023, Maddison has already missed many games through injuries. Ankle injuries kept him out in 13 games in the 2023-24 season, but last season was missed 11 games due to tension in the calf and knee injuries.
