WASHINGTON (AP) – The US Air Force said it would deny everything Thursday Transgender Service Members Those who have been in service between 15 and 18 years will be the option to retire early and instead separate them without retirement benefits.
The move means that transgender service members will face the choice between taking temporary segregation payments offered to junior forces or being removed from the service.
An Air Force spokesperson told The Associated Press: “Service members with honorable services from 15-18 years were allowed to apply for policy exceptions, but the policy exceptions were not approved.” A spokesman who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal air force policies said that around 12 service members had been “prematurely notified” that they could retire before the decision was overturned.
All transgender members of the Air Force are Trump administration’s policy.
