EXCLUSIVE: Rachel Marsh (Adults), Nicholas Duvernay (The White Lotus), Jaboukie Young-White (Companion), and Arty Froushan (Daredevil: Born Again) have signed on for roles in Amazon MGM and MRC’s The Love Hypothesis, based on the New York Times bestseller by Ali Hazelwood.
Character details are under wraps. The actors join previously announced stars Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman in the rom-com, which Claire Scanlon is directing from a script by Sarah Rothschild.
In The Love Hypothesis, Olive Smith (Reinhart), a biology PhD candidate, and Dr. Adam Carlsen (Bateman), a hotshot professor and well-known tyrant, enter into a fake relationship, seeing each of their carefully calculated theories on love be thrown into chaos.
Published in 2021 by Berkley, an imprint of Penguin Random House, the novel spent 10 months on the New York Times bestseller list and has been sold in 40 countries. Elizabeth Cantillon is producing the feature take, with Reinhart, Catherine Hagedorn, and Hazelwood exec producing.
Currently starring in the new FX comedy Adults, Marsh will soon appear in the fourth season of Apple’s The Morning Show, as well as the second season of Prime Video’s hit video game adaptation Fallout. Previously seen starring alongside Rob Lowe and John Owen Lowe in their Netflix series Unstable, she is represented by Quest Entertainment & Management and The Kohner Agency.
Most recently seen in the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus, Duvernay will next appear in Universal’s Reminders of Him, based on the novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover. Other notable credits include Purple Hearts for Netflix and Bel-Air for Peacock. He is represented by UTA, Rebel Creative Group, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
Recently appearing in New Line’s AI-themed thriller Companion, Young-White will next be seen starring opposite Zoey Deutch, Ruby Cruz, and Jonah Hauer-King in the indie rom-com The Threesome, out September 5. Known for his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, he’s also been seen in films like C’mon C’mon, Set It Up and Someone Great, along with shows like Crashing, Only Murders in the Building, Rap Sh!t, Black Mirror, and Abbott Elementary. He is repped by 3 Arts, WME, and Ginsburg Daniels.
Froushan can be seen in the Marvel and Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again, and is currently shooting the second season. Upcoming, he also has the third installment in the Downton Abbey film franchise, being released September 12, as well as Uni/Blumhouse’s M3GAN spin-off SOULM8TE and H is for Hawk for Plan B. He is repped by Anonymous Content, Markham Froggatt Irwin, and Peikoff Mahan.
