EXCLUSIVE: Deacon Phillippe (Motorheads), Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead), Thomas Murphy Molony (American Rust), and Forrest Weber (Black Rabbit) are set to topline Brother Save Us, a dystopian sci-fi pic that counts Zach Baylin, the Oscar nominee behind King Richard and The Order, among its EPs.
Marking the directorial debut of Jesse Behrenwald, who also penned the script, the film follows a lonely 12-year-old boy who befriends a cryptic AI farmhand in the Midwest, causing tensions to boil with his overworked older brother. Check out a first-look still above.
Caroline Ohlson (Alpha Betas) is producing Brother Save Us alongside Melissa Kirkendall (The Vast of Night), with production wrapping last week. Exec producers include Baylin and Kate Susman, through their Youngblood Pictures, as well as Andrew Hinderaker. The Law Offices of Eric W. Thompson have served as production counsel for the film, with Rachel Goldman handling casting.
Behrenwald filmed the project in small-town Michigan, where he grew up farming with his family. He’s come up only recently as an assistant, having worked with EPs Baylin, Susman, and Hinderaker on the Jason Bateman and Jude Law Netflix thriller series Black Rabbit, premiering September 18. Prior to that, he also worked with Hinderaker on the Showtime series Let the Right One In.
Best known for his work on the shows Motorheads and Never Have I Ever, Phillippe will next be seen in Amazon MGM’s 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank from Frankie Shaw. He is represented by CAA and LBI Entertainment
Riggs played Carl Grimes in AMC’s The Walking Dead and has also been seen in projects like A Million Little Things and Get Low. He is repped by The Burstein Company and TalentWorks.
Previously appearing only in Showtime’s American Rust, Murphy Molony is repped by DDO Artists Agency and Elysian Heights Management
Appearing in Netflix’s forthcoming Black Rabbit, Weber has previously been seen on Law & Order, The Blacklist and more. He is repped by The Mine and Rebel Creative Group.
Baylin and Susman are repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Hinderaker is with CAA.
