WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington, D.C. police chief ordered an increase in cooperation between local officials and federal immigration agents on Thursday. Donald Trump’s Security crackdowns put city police under administration’s command.
The executive order issued Thursday and signed by Metropolitan Police Department Prime Minister Pamela Smith establishes that MPD officers can share information with immigration agencies regarding people in detention regarding people involved in traffic stops and checkpoints. MPD officers may also provide “transportation of federal immigrant employees and detained subjects.”
Changes that raise collaboration between the two forces in a prominent way will take effect immediately.

Several protesters held signs close to being critical of the Trump administration. As residents left, construction vehicles from city agencies passed through the bodies of the tent.
Supporters were hoping that law enforcement officials would fan out through DC later Thursday to defeat the remaining homeless encampment.
