Adam McKay and his production company, Hyperobject Industries and signed with CAA for representation.
McKay’s recent credits include the Academy Award and BAFTA nominated Don’t Look Up, one of Netflix’s most successful films of all time; Vice, which received eight Academy Award nominations, six Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, and a DGA nomination; The Big Short which earned McKay Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for Best Director, he and Charles Randolph also won Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards, BAFTA, WGA and USC Scripter Awards.
Upcoming feature projects include the untitled Sony Pictures’ thriller from writer director Tommy Wirkola, starring Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou, which is set for a July 2026 release. Other recent film work includes McKay’s role as a producer on Searchlight Pictures’ box office hit The Menu and social thriller Fresh. He served as an executive producer on Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart, Netflix’s hit show Dead to Me and Lorene Scafaria’s Hustlers.
For television, McKay served as an executive producer on the HBO show Succession and directed the pilot for which he won the 2018 DGA Award for Drama Series. He also executive produced and directed the pilot of HBO’s drama series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. He is an executive producer on HBO’s Painting with John and HBO documentaries Q: Into the Storm, 537 VOTES, Wild Wild Space, and Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery. He also executive produced Hulu’s most-watched documentary film God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty, Men of War on Peacock and The Holly.
Upcoming TV projects includes a limited series from McKay and Bong Joon Ho, inspired by Bong Joon Ho’s Academy Award Best Picture Parasite. McKay will also produce the documentary feature Stormbound for IMAX which follows Florida weather spotter Jeff Gammons into the dangerous world of storm chasing during peak U.S. storm season.
McKay has produced numerous original podcasts such as the investigative series Broken: Seeking Justice featuring Julie K. Brown and numerous survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. Other podcasts include Bedtime Stories with Adam McKay, Death at the Wing, and Death on the Lot.
The Hyperobject Industries team includes McKay’s long-time producer, Academy Award-nominated and EMMY-winner Kevin Messick, and producers Todd Schulman, Betsy Koch and Maeve Cullinane.
In May 2023, McKay founded Yellow Dot Studios, a non-profit media organization challenging disinformation about the climate crisis through videos, LET’S NOT DIE featured Nick Kroll, Nikki Glazer and many other comics in NY, LA and London, with more shows planned for 2026.
