Desi Lydic is sitting in a dark room and she’s angry. The mainstream media is covering up all the scandals related to the Democratic party and overreacting to issues such as President Trump being gifted a super expensive plane from the Qataris and being linked to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
“Donald Trump is going to release the Epstein files, he is the only President with the courage…[phone rings]. It’s like I said, ‘Enough with the Epstein files. Just move on already’,” she said on a recent episode of The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains. “I’ve been watching Fox News for 253 hours straight and I’m ready to Foxsplain why the Epstein files are a massive scandal that MAGA patriots everywhere must stand up and stop being interested in.”
Lydic has not, however, fallen down an Alex Jones-shaped hole but is merely mocking Fox News and its cabal of blonde political puppets.
The Daily Show host has found huge success with her Foxsplains series – some of which get close to 2M views on YouTube.
In fact, she’s up for two Emmys for the project. The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains has been nominated in the Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series category and she has been nominated as Outstanding Performer in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.
Lydic’s digital show is up against her late-night peers, going head-to-head with Seth Meyers’ Corrections, Jimmy Kimmel’s The Rabbit Hole and The Tonight Show: During Commercial Break.
“I think the thing that impresses me most about Fox News, and others such as Newsmax and OAN, is the way they take a paper-thin conspiracy theory and just blow it up into nine days of wall-to-wall coverage. It becomes an interesting science experiment to watch how the logic can fold in on itself and how far they are willing to go. The mental gymnastics required is truly impressive, until their hypocrisy gets caught in their zipper – but no one is embarrassed by that anymore,” she told Deadline.
Lydic, who is also one of the hosts of The Daily Show alongside Jon Stewart (Mondays), Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta and Jordan Klepper, said that Foxsplains, which she has been doing for a number of years, has “evolved” since Donald Trump returned to offer.
“The right is for lack of a better term is on the winning team right now. The more recent Fox News coverage has been more about all the creative, outside the box ways they’re willing to overlook a truth such as Epstein. The way they bend over backwards to say this is not a story, don’t look over there, and to watch them try to justify why it’s not real. Particularly when Trump is zig-zagging himself. It’s entertaining to watch Fox News and others try to keep up with him and double down,” she added. “So when we look for Foxsplains ideas we look to satirize the fake stories they package as real and the real stories they package as fake while having as much fun as we can heightening the mental gymnastics. Then I book a session with my therapist.”
Below Lydic has chosen her favorite Foxsplains segments, although she said that she hates to pick favorites as they’re “all my children equally”.
“For health reasons I generally have to wash my brain with hydroxychloroquine after recording each Foxsplains, so it can be hard to remember previous conspiracy theories and narratives,” she admitted.
“The Epstein Files are a scandal of epic proportion that everyone needs to STOP paying attention to- remember when Biden tripped 3 months ago?”
“Airforce One is too old (40 yuck) so we must accept this Qatari plane as a perfectly fine permissible gift which President Trump is not keeping but donating to his library.”
“These aren’t war plans they were just an attack outline also HILLARY’S SERVERS!”
“The Taylor Strategy.”
“2020 election was stolen – they gave pens to Democrats and made Republicans fill out their ballots with a sharpie.”
