Reports say it is “impossible” for Liverpool to sign Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech before the transfer window closes.
The Reds have struck a “full agreement” to sign Newcastle United’s Alexander Isaac on the deadline with Swedish International to get medical care late Monday morning.
Last week, it seemed confident that Liverpool would also acquire a new centre-back on Monday, with Crystal Palace star Guehi using top targets.
But Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner told Chairman Steve Parish on Sunday that the Eagles wanted to protect them, saying they “have no chance to find the right alternative in one day.”
After beating Aston Villa 3-0, Glasner said, “I told the chairman that if I want to play a successful season, I have to keep the mark. I don’t have the chance to find a proper exchange in a day. I agreed to sell the mark if there is a proper exchange in the building.
“We wanted a replacement by July 1st. It’s August 31st, and there’s no replacement. It’s clear to me because there’s this agreement. He’s a very important player. He’s one of our important players. He’s our captain.”

And transfer journalist Ben Jacobs claims after Glasner’s comment that the deal is “impossible” but the transfer is “not off yet.”
Jacobs wrote to X: Although not off yet, it’s become difficult last night after Oliver Grasner’s comment saying he wanted to keep the captain of Crystal Palace. Joe Gomez will not be sold to Milan unless Guehi participates.
And Graeme Bailey revealed a similar story about pioneering the KOP with Reds, which is to get a deal over Guehi’s line.
Bailey said: “I don’t think Liverpool is doing Mark Guehe when things are standing. The Liverpool to Liverpool gamehe will have to wait from what we’re hearing from Anfield right now.
“They wanted this deal just like the players, but it appears Oliver Glasner won that day to keep his skipper in place, and Glasner’s pressure was key.
“Joe Gomez has that knock-on effect. No matter what changes, it will stay.”

Despite the latest updates, Milan and Liverpool seem to have almost reached an agreement that Gomez will move to Serie A if the Reds are able to complete the Guehi deal.
Italian journalist Matteo Morett said in X: Persistent transfer. The Rossoneri Club is also working to finalize an economic agreement with the defender.
Virgil van Dik insisted that Gomez wanted him to stay at Anfield after Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0 on Sunday.
“I’m not a boss. This is not a friendly business. Let’s see what happens. Of course he will stay as a friend and as a player.”
