Reports say Manchester United received three “inquiries” from Cobby Mineau’s Premier League club after the midfielder asked them to leave their loan.
Mainoo reportedly asked the club to leave on loan after United became an unused replacement when opening two Premier League fixtures.
He then faced Grimsbytown in the Carabao Cup and came out of the bench at halftime against Burnley on Saturday to help Reuben Amorim’s side record the first victory of the campaign.
United fans were ghastling with the prospect of resigning, whether Mineu is permanent or on loan, but the 20-year-old stayed past the transfer deadline on Monday.
There was a lot of interest in Mainoo from clubs in the UK and overseas, and Daily Mail revealed six clubs that were in the race for his signature.
It is certainly claimed that Italian champion Napoli was leading the pursuit ahead of Serie A’s rivals as Rome and French giant Marseille.

In the Premier League, United reportedly received “inquiries” from Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
However, Amorim’s side “wanted him to stay and fight for his place.” His chances of departure have been significantly reduced after injuries to Matthews Cunya and Mason Mount against Burnley.
Let’s take a look at six clubs that England midfielders have been able to participate in on the deadline.
Aston Villa
One of the biggest losers in the summer 2025 transfer window, Unai Emery got Paws at Harvey Elliott on the deadline, but Mainoo was an outstanding addition, even on a straight loan.
Considering the conditions of the English villas of Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa, which are on top of the injury issues of Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara, we love this very much.
Of the three English clubs, this hits us as the best one for Mainoo. I don’t think we’ll ever know.
Naples
We love this. The best team in Serie A, managed by Antonio Conte. In the Champions League. However, in most cases, there are several players in Naples that Mine knows well.
Scott McTominay was named Serie’s most valuable player after leading Napoli to the title earlier in the year. McTominay was officially joined by Rasmus Hojlund on Monday, but the deal was agreed long ago.
As for the midfield competition, Mineu is fighting match times between Scotland and his international teammate Billy Gilmore, as well as Frank Angissa and Stanislav Lobotka. And if Conte viewed him as a more advanced midfield option, he would compete with Kevin De Bruin…
spur
Thomas Frank’s offense looked strong, and the addition of Randall Koro Muani’s deadline date did not harm him in that department.
However, in the middle, there was more room for recruitment, especially when Yves Bissouma went out in the cold. Champions League football is offered by the Spurs. The Spurs feel it’s perfect for Mine.
Everton
Everton is getting exciting to watch following the addition of Jack Grellish, who complements Iliman Ndiey very well. His quick renaissance under David Moet should be a positive sign for a player trying to get his career back on track, and while Minee is too young to worry about his career falling to the roadside, it would have been his idea that Toffee’s interest had been strengthened.
James Garner and Idrissa Gana Gay are great midfielders, but there’s no doubt that Mainoo will be upgraded to both. We couldn’t see him want it.
Marseille
Again, Mainoo is familiar with one player from Marseille’s Mason Greenwood. But instead of pushing the united man, they signed Matt Orly from Brighton.
Roberto de Zerbi is another head coach that players like Mainoo can benefit from working together. The Italians already have some solid League One midfielders, such as Pierre Emile Hoybjeerg, Angel Gomez, Jeffrey Condogvia and Arthur Vermilen.
Rome
I don’t know about Rome, but working for Jean Piero Gaspelini is an exciting suggestion. Manukone is a super player, but their midfield is pretty thin.
