WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump hosted dinner for Congressional members at the newly paved Rose Garden Friday night, informing him that it was the first gathering of what he called the “Rose Garden Club.”
The president had the microphone, so he is grateful for his support of the law, along with around 100 people, mainly Republicans and several GOP senators.
“We call it the Rose Garden Club, and it’s a club for the senators, the lawmakers, the people of Washington, and, frankly, those who can bring peace and success to our country,” Trump said.
Trump said he intended to be technology executives who ate Thursday night, including Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The dinner was moved indoors due to the rain.
“I had a tech guy here and they didn’t want the rain to fall on their beautiful heads,” Trump told lawmakers.
Among the changes Trump made to renovate and remake, the White House was his decision to pave the lawn. Rose Gardenhe installed tables, chairs and umbrellas that looked amazingly similar to the outdoor setup at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
