Raheem Sterling’s Chelsea Exile will continue this summer after Winger failed to secure travel off Stamford Bridge.
England International is part of Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad,” a group of players who have departed from Enzo Maresca’s plans, separated from the first team.
Along with Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana, Sterling trains away from the senior team, uses a variety of facilities, and even eats separately.
The hope was that a permanent solution would be found before the windows closed, but the deal was not agreed.
Fulham came nearby and explored a move that allowed him to stay in West London just to rely on other targets. Crystal Palace and West Ham both had internal discussions, but neither continued their offer.
Sterling had already had evening window scrambling last year when he was sent to Arsenal on loan last year.
This time he made it clear that he is not in a hurry to compromise on another deadline. As a result, Chelsea’s best-performing unnecessary players remain in range.
According to Ben Jacobs of Givemesport, Sterling is ready to spend his time.
“Raheem Sterling is willing to wait for his next option after failing to secure a move away from Chelsea this summer,” he said.

Jacobs added: “While the windows in Türkiye and Saudi Arabia remain open, GMS understands that 30-year-olds are not planning to participate in either league.
There was also speculation that his contract could soon be ended to release him for the new club. However, Jacobs said: “The mutual layoffs that allowed him to enter the free agency market are now considered unlikely by sources that are close to the situation.
“The subject has not yet been broached between the parties. It proves costly for Bruce compared to trying to sell or rent him out in January with wage compensation.”
That means Sterling has few options, but he’s going to continue training in asylum and wait until the winter window. He remains two years on a £325,000 contract he signed when he joined Manchester City’s Chelsea in 2022 for £47.5 million.
During that time, he made 81 appearances for Chelsea and scored 19 goals, but spent last season on loan at Arsenal, where he was featured 28 times in all competitions, scoring only once.
The now 30-year-old former Liverpool forward believes he can add to the 82 England cap and wants to play at a level that will continue to compete for him.
