Manchester City confirmed that Omar Marmash missed Sunday’s derby against Manchester United after suffering a knee injury in an international mandate with Egypt.
Pep Guardiola’s side confirmed in a statement Wednesday afternoon that Marmash is not available for the Manchester Derby at Etihad Stadium.
“Manchester City FC can confirm that Omar Marmash suffered a knee injury during his international mission with Egypt,” the club’s statement said.
“The city striker was injured early in Egypt’s World Cup qualifying match against Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening.
The first results of the scans run in Egypt show that he is not available for the Manchester Derby on Sunday, indicating that he will return to Manchester for more evaluations and begin his rehabilitation.
“Everyone in the City wants Omar to recover quickly.”

The extent of the problem has not been revealed, but whenever it turns out to be a knee injury, we can’t help but be afraid of the worst.
Losing a player of Marmash quality should be hit by any team, but thankfully Guardiola has many options for offense and the Egyptians weren’t even guaranteed to face United.
Erling Haaland and Marmoush are the only players listed as “Forward” on the Man City website. This shows that they are considered strikers rather than wingers.
At 1am on the day of the match against the Wolves, Guardiola’s front three were Oscars Bob, Jeremy Doc and Haaland, but wide-playing Bernaldo Silva was in midfield three.
Despite winning 4-0 at Molineux, the Spanish manager switched things up for a visit to Tottenham, with Marmoush and Bobb coming out widely and starting Haaland himself ahead of time at 4-1-4-1.
The Spurs won 2-0, leading to further changes in the city’s Brighton trip to Brighton, primarily in the form, but did not attack the personnel as Malmarsh played the left wing.
Judging from the first three matches on 2025/25, Marmoush is Guardiola’s preferred option on the left. This means that Doku is most likely to start against Ruben Amorim’s subordinates.
However, Savinho and Phil Foden may also be competing, and Bobb can move in to accommodate one of these two players.
Foden has only played 15 minutes this season as he continues to be hampered by ankle issues, but Savinho is not included in the match-day team amid interest in transfers from the Spurs.
Guardiola told reporters that the Brazilian is dealing with knocks that he suffered before the season, but we are not sure.
If the Spaniard wants my opinion for some reason: Bobb should start on the left and do Foden on the right. After all, young Phil loves his goal against United.
If Foden doesn’t fit enough to start, it must be the same front 3 as the wolf shattered into pieces: Bob, Haaland, Doc.
