Grammarly has built its reputation as a tool for checking spelling, grammar and writing tips in English. The company currently expands its range of features to support five languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, German and Italian.
The company said it will propose paragraph-level rewriting on the tone, style and flow of the new language. Like English, users who write in any of these five languages can also translate text in 19 languages in inline. Multilingual writing features are available to all free users.

“Our customers have been seeking multilingual support. We meet where they are, not just in the 500,000 apps and websites that are already working, but also in the languages they think, learn and communicate every day,” said Ailian Gan, director of product management at Grammarly, in a statement.
Grammarly said it recorded 40 million active users daily in May, and today’s addition is undoubtedly aimed at increasing that number.

The company said it piloted a million multilingual tools and saw the results as positive. However, we did not share any specific usage numbers.
Grammarly has been on sale recently. Last month we introduced a productivity startup that last year acquired new AI features with CODA and a redesigned document UX. The company said it plans to bring multilingual support to AI capabilities as well.
