Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Man UTD in January and tries again to persuade Bruno Fernandez to move to Saudi Arabia.
Al Giral prioritized Fernandez early in the summer. The Saudi Arabian Pro League side has given the Red Devils midfielder a bonus with a tax-free contract of £700,000 a week.
After discussions between Fernandez’s agent Miguel Pinho and the Saudi club, the Man UTD captain decided to stay at the Premier League club for the time being.
He revealed why he chose to stay in Man Wood, over his move towards Fernandez, which has also attracted interest from Al Nasr and Al Ittihad.
“There was a wait for me to think about the future, and as I always said, if I thought Manchester United was, I would be happy to do it.
“I spoke to Coach Reuben Amorim, who said that throughout that period it was a very annoying thing for me not to go! The club said they only wanted to sell me if I wanted to leave.

Fernandez added: “It was a very ambitious proposal. The President was a great person. We’ve never discussed the amount (initially) money. Of course?
“Then I spoke to my wife and family. She asked what my personal goals were in my career. She was always someone who supported me a lot.
“It was an easy move on a family level too. I had Joan Cancello there. My kids are used to playing with him on the varsity team. We have great friendships.
“But I want to keep myself at the highest level and play in a big competition, and I feel I can do that.”

In a new update on Saudi Arabia’s interest in Fernandez, Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this week that the Middle Eastern club is ready to return to Man UTD captain in 2026.
Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “From the Saudi Arabia, they want to come back in the future. Keep an eye on Saudi Arabia in 2026.
“But from the Saudi Arabia, they want to return to Bruno Fernandez and they will keep Bruno Fernandez’s name on their list for future targets. Please be aware of the situation with Bruno Fernandez as the Saudi Arabia wants to return.”
And Fichejes, a Spanish website, claims that Ronaldo’s “pressure” Fernandez, current Portuguese international teammate, will join the Saudi Arabian club in January.
Ronaldo “strengthened his efforts to persuade his fellow countrymen to join the Saudi Arabian League” as the role of the former Man UTD striker in the Saudi Arabian football project exceeds his performance on the pitch.
He failed to convince Fernandez to join him during his summer transfer period, but the report added that “interest will continue to live up to and could make a comeback by January 2026.”
The report continues. “The English club has been experiencing financial difficulties and if an attractive offer comes, they can seriously consider selling one of their most valuable assets. Fernandez is entering the final stretch of his contract and increasing the pressure to define his future.”
